WHAT WE BELIEVE
(please feel free to request our full confession of faith)
1. Scriptures
We believe that the Holy Bible as originally written was inspired by God ... verbal inspiration (the words, not just the thoughts) and plenary inspiration (every word, not just some words). As such, we believe it is without error and must be the rule for all men. II Timothy 3:16,17; II Peter 1:19-21
2. God
We believe that there is only one living and true God, infinite and perfect; and in the unity of the Godhead, there are three equal persons: Father, Son and Spirit. Exodus 20:2,3; I John 5:7; I Corinthians 8:6
We believe in the absolute, eternal deity of the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe He was born by a virgin birth, that He lived a sinless life, that He died as a sacrifice for our sins, and that He bodily rose from the dead to ascend into Heaven. John 1:1,2; I John 5:20; Matthew 1:20; Luke 1:26-38
We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and bears witness to the truth. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells each believer immediately at salvation. We believe that He seals, guides, gifts, and sanctifies every believer. II Corinthians 13:14; John 14:17; Romans 8: 14-27
3. Satan
We believe in the distinct personality of Satan, that he is the god of this age, author of all the powers of darkness and sin, and is destined to an eternal judgment in the lake of fire. Matthew 4:l-3; II Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:10
4. Creation
We believe that God created the heavens and the earth, including all life, “each after its own kind,” by direct act in six, 24 hour days, and not by any process of evolution. Genesis 1,2; Colossians 1:16,17; John 1:3
5. The Fall of Man
We believe that man, in the person of Adam, was created innocent but chose to sin. We believe that as a result all mankind not only chooses to sin but is born in sin, and so are without excuse before God. Genesis 3; Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:10-19
6. Atonement For Sin
We believe that the only escape from the condemnation of sin is through the atonement wrought by Jesus Christ. We believe that the blessings of His salvation are given on the grounds of grace to all who believe and confess. John l:l-3,14; 3:1-7; Hebrews 10:4-14; Acts 16:30-33
7. Salvation By Grace
We believe that faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ is the only condition of salvation from sin and that this salvation is wholly by grace; that no works, however good, make that salvation more secure. Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8,9; Titus 3:5-7; John 3:16
We believe that all who take Christ as their Savior are eternally secure in Christ. John 10:28,29; Romans 8:35-39
8. The Believer's Walk
We believe that the Word of God gives very clearly the way the child of God is to conduct himself in this life. Separate from the sinful things of this world, separated to loving and serving God. We believe that true salvation will be evidenced in a sanctified life. Micah 6:8; Romans 12:1,2; Ephesians 2:10; 5:15-16; II Corinthians 7:1; I Corinthians 6:19,20; Colossians 3:17,23; Philippians 2:15, I6a
9. The Church
We believe that the universal church is composed of all believers, whose head is Christ. Matthew 16:18; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 1:22,23; 5:23-33; I Thessalonians 4:13-18
We believe that the universal church is visibly manifested through the local church, and that the local church is a congregation of immersed believers associated by covenant of faith who agree to follow the commands of the Word of God. We believe that its officers are pastors and deacons, and that in all matters of membership, policy government, discipline, and benevolence, the will of the local church is final. Matthew 18:15-17; I Corinthians 1:2; 6:4,5; 7:17; 11:16; I Timothy 3:1-15
We believe that the church is biblically required to separate from apostacy, and to refrain from corporately joining with unbelievers. We believe that, individually, as well as a local assembly, Biblical separation must be maintained in order to have an effective witness for our Lord Jesus Christ. II Thessalonians 3:1-6, 14: II Corinthians 6:11-7:1; II Chronicles 19:2; Ezra 4:1-4
10. Ordinances
We believe that there are two church ordinances , Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water which pictures salvation’s effects in our lives of death to sin and resurrection to a new life.
The Lord's Supper, which is the commemoration of our Lord's death until He comes and of our continual fellowship with Him, should be preceded always by careful self-examination. Acts 8:36-39; 10:43-48; I Corinthians 11:23-32
11. Last Things
We believe in the pre-millennial return of Jesus Christ and that He will come before the seven-year tribulation period to catch away His church, (I Thessalonians 4:13-18) and that He will come with His church at the close of the tribulation to judge the living nations and to set up His millennial kingdom. We believe that at the close of this thousand years, Satan will be loosed only to be defeated one final time, resulting in God casting him and his followers into the lake of fire. Matthew 24:21-22; 25:31-46; Zechariah 14:1-9; Revelation 4:19; 19:11-21; 20:7-10
We believe that all those who have placed their faith in Christ will live eternally with Him. John 3:16; Revelation 21:1-4
